My Trust (Paradigm) is trialing short Read-Aloud texts in KS2 science lessons. Each unit has 6 short teacher read-alouds which:
- explore a key science concept 6 times in 6 different contexts;
- model the key vocabulary in the new contexts;
- model to the pupils how to use their subject knowledge to help them comprehend a text more deeply.
Here is an example pack of 6 texts for KS2 light.
We believe that these texts will both
- help develop rich and connected understanding of key concepts and
- boost reading comprehension scores when reading science texts.
